THE NEXT BEST THING - MIKE GUERRERO

We are going to shine the spotlight on Texas artist Mike Guerrero. Who as you might have guessed will be our next collaborative artist here. As we get closer to the release we give you a sneak peek at what we have in store, until then, here are a few pieces from Mike to wet your appetite.

CYSTIC FIBROSIS "BASSOLA"

A few weeks ago we came upon a message from Haydn Curtis, who was wondering if it would be ok to do a parody of a blink182 shirt to help raise money and awareness for his little sister Gwen who was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. We got to talking and wanted to get involved in helping in a bigger way

Mark volunteered one of his guitars, and Greg "Craola" Simkins volunteered his immense talent to bring us a one of a kind, and do we mean "one of a kind" guitar. Not a "limited edition", there is not another one like this on the planet. Mark is going to be playing the "Bassola" guitar this week. So it's just not a pretty wall guitar, this one will have been on stage, seen the lights, the crowds, and actually played. The guitar will be auctioned off to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis. LONDON CALLING

Our London friend, Rich Simmons has come stateside for his gallery show at the Soho Contemporary Art. If you are in the area you should go. No, if you are in the area you HAVE TO GO. If you've been following Rich on Facebook then you've gotten a glimpse of what he's created for this show and you know it's going to be awesome to see in person. And if you see Rich there and take a picture with him while wearing a HMNIM tee, post with #HMNIM and #ARTISTHECURE and one lucky winner with get a surprise gift from us just for supporting the Arts.

This we pulled from the Soho website:

On September 18th, Soho Contemporary Art will introduce Rich Simmons, a rising star on the international art scene. Coming off of three very successful solo shows in the United Kingdom, Rich Simmons is bringing his latest works to the Bowery for his first American show. The artist takes recognizable imagery from pop culture, such as super-heroes and projects his opinions and sense of humor on these familiar and well-known images. His message is one that everyone can relate to, love yourself. Connecting his work to his charity, Art is the Cure, he wants to raise awareness that creativity is a way to release emotions, both positive and negative. With his creativity, his unique commentary and passion for his cause, Rich Simmons is rising to fame because the public are connecting with his art and agreeing with his message.

NEXT LEVEL STICKERING

Today we are going to help you become bad ass. Sure all of you have seen the Apple commercial with all the stickers on the laptop, what you didn't see is the best sticker you can possible put on your computer, maybe we are a little biased but come on, you know this looks awesome.

First thing first, you are going to need three things, an Apple computer, an Octopus vinyl sticker, and a ceremonial Japanese samurai sword.

Next, line up your sticker so that the eyes will lay perfectly over the apple. this is pretty easy to do so don't stress it.

Lay your sticker down, once you've lined the eyes up, rub it down to push out any air bubbles. If you do get some bubbles don't worry, they will work themselves out over a couple days. Do not try and pop them with a pin, don't ask us how we know this, but it doesn't work.

Now this is the most important step, holding your sword with both your hands you want to make a quick decisive cut in one motion. If you need help with this, we suggest you watch Akira Kurosawa's the Seven Samurai or his later masterpiece Yojimbo for proper sword technique.

Now you are left with some tentacles, you can toss them aside or for bonus points you can line them up and stick them to the underneath of your computer.

Well, there you go. Your computer is now officially bad ass.
